GOOGLE REVIEW SCAMS

8/5/22

Beware of Internet Review Scams. The Law Office has been attacked by several Internet Scams starting last month.

The First Scam involves fake clients posting fake Google reviews and reviews from other sites. A fake client is someone we have never met, spoken to, or received money from. We can't verify their identity. These people are not verified by Google and anyone can file a fake review. Just as anyone can file a fake bad review and try to get money from you, a person can also file "good fake reviews." While many businesses pay people or companies to file positive fake reviews, we do not pay for good fake reviews. The scammers have been trying to get money from the law office for almost a year.
This scam is connected to the second scam: Reputation Scams. See attached information below.

Second Scam: Reputation Scams. Removal of Bad Reviews. These people contact the business after a fake review has been posted on Google. They then tell you they offer paid "services" to remove the fake review. It's a form of lightweight blackmail.

The third Scam involves Telephone Spoofing. What Is Spoofing? Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. People have been calling me saying I called them, but in fact, I did not. I have left a message in my voice message to inform people who try to call me back.

I have reported the scammers to the Federal Trade Commission, Google, and law enforcement. I am looking into suing GOOGLE for not requiring reviews from Verified Clients. Most other sites remove fake reviews from people who are not paying clients.

It would be so much easier for these people to get jobs, but they are at the bottom doing scams trying make a buck.

Not to worry. No one is getting any money from the business.
